A new reading group from ME4writers. We will meet monthly to discuss books and have a nice cup of tea and a slice of cake. The venue is the Deaf Cat Cafe. Please check out the cafe’s website if you have any accessibility needs, as depending on numbers we may meet in a room upstairs. I hope to do an online webchat afterwards about the session for those people who are unable to attend in the flesh and possibly live tweets.
The first meeting will be at 3-4pm, Saturday 23 January. Webchat 5-5.30pm (details TBC).
The first book – fittingly – is Drood by Dan Simmons, Simmons’s take on C19th Britain and two of its greatest creative artists: the writers Charles Dickens and Wilkie Collins. Dan Simmons’ Drood, however, is a very different literary endeavour, with the two writers plunged into a darkly atmospheric Victorian world where supernatural creatures haunt the shadows (and, beneath the streets, an alternative cityscape exists). It is available on Amazon for under £5.
A full list of books (if you want to get Santa to help out) is available on email from ME4writers@gmail.com
Visit the new ME4 Readers blog to keep up to date with what we’re reading or comment on the books.
